With the potential appointment of the radical anti-gun judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, Americans' individual right to bear arms is only one decision away from being history. In this series I've already explained that you need to find the right gun for you, and then get trained properly in how to use it. Once you know how to safely handle your firearm, it's time to begin working on your accuracy. This is where practice begins to take precedent over enthusiasm. It's easy to get jazzed up about going to the gun shop and loading up on new equipment, and it's not hard to sit through … [Read more...]
Get Your Gun and Your Training Now, Part III
I've already told you that time may be running out on the second Amendment protections reinforced by the Supreme Court verdict in D.C. vs. Heller. With President Obama's nomination of the anti-gun Judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court to replace long-time protector of the second Amendment Justice Antonin Scalia, Americans' rights are under threat. You need to get your gun and training now, before it's too late. On Monday I explained that finding the right firearm for you is of the utmost importance. With the help of Sig Sauer Academy Director Adam Painchaud, you should be well on your … [Read more...]
Get Your Gun and Your Training Now, Part II
Last week I told you about Barack Obama's radical nomination to the Supreme Court, Merrick Garland. I urged you to get your guns and training now. In your quest to become a proficient, effective marksman and to gain the ability to protect yourself and your family, it's important to own the right firearm. Here Sig Sauer Academy's Director Adam Painchaud discusses how to find the proper pistol fit. A bulky gun, or one that disappears in your hand will hurt your accuracy. Get it right the first time. … [Read more...]
Obama Nominates Garland: Get Your Gun and Your Training Now
Do you own a firearm? If not, for the safety of you and your family you should consider buying one now. President Obama has nominated the radical, anti-gun judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court seat vacated by the passing of long-time second amendment supporter Justice Antonin Scalia. If Garland reaches the high court, he'll tip the balance of justices to a majority against the individual right to bear arms. The NRA released a statement skewering Garland over his record: Obama has already nominated two Supreme Court justices who oppose the right to own firearms and there is absolutely … [Read more...]
U.S. Power Grid More Vulnerable Than Ukraine's?
Last December a cyber attack crippled Ukraine's power grid. Engineers were able to manually restart power, workers still have to control the system manually. In many U.S. power systems, no manual overrides exist. A similar attack on the grid could leave America out of power much longer. WIRED's Kim Zetter reports: Regardless, the successful assault holds many lessons for power generation plants and distribution centers here in the US, experts say; the control systems in Ukraine were surprisingly more secure than some in the US, since they were well-segmented from the control center business … [Read more...]
Kidnapping Prevention for Young Women
Over the weekend my daughter and I attended Sig Sauer Academy’s eight-hour course on Kidnapping Prevention for Young Women. This was the logical next step in constructing her self-defense mindset. For years now she has been shooting at our local gun club at our Friday night kid’s shoot and is comfortable around guns. A self-defense course was our next step and by traveling to Sig it gave us some precious time together to discuss her self-defense. One key takeaway from the course is to use your common sense—avoid vulnerable situations. Easy enough to say but sometimes difficult to … [Read more...]
Guns: My Concealed Carry Update
A lot of good things can happen to your personal security situation when you take some initiative. For example, what will it take for you to have a "choice" to carry a weapon legally? Having a choice may provide you and your family with a great deal of comfort. As I've told you recently in Protect Your Family, Every Way Possible, I have my resident concealed carry license now in two states, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. With the two, I can legally carry in 33 states. Take a look at the list I've provided for you below, courtesy of handgunlaw.us, run your finger to your state, and see … [Read more...]
Protect Your Family, Every Way Possible
I recently received my concealed weapons carry permit for Rhode Island. During the lengthy permitting process, I had a number of excellent and most informative conversations with police officers, which were worth their weight in gold. One such conversation was about the dangers we knowingly and unknowingly face on the streets today. One officer told me that since 9/11, the sheer number of threats is through the roof. Here in Newport, RI there have been bomb threats at the public schools all week leading to evacuations yesterday. And that’s only what the public hears about. It’s time you think … [Read more...]
MS-13 in Boston
I find it hard to believe President Trump would put up with MS-13. The Boston Globe reports that last week more than 400 officers fanned out across Boston, charging 56 people in crimes related to the violent street gang, MS-13. Law enforcement officials on Friday charged 56 people with running a vast criminal enterprise with the motto “kill, rape, and control’’ that allegedly sold drugs and carried out five murders in immigrant communities throughout Greater Boston. I wrote here that despite President Obama's dire warnings that guns cause crime, per capita concealed carry licenses in … [Read more...]
Boston Globe Wrong About Guns
"Tens of thousands of new gun licenses were issued to Massachusetts residents in 2015, continuing a recent surge, according to state data,” reports The Boston Globe. Take a quick glance at the map from the Globe below, and you can see that the city of Boston has a pretty light licensing density and yet that’s where all the shootings take place. Maybe the liberal Globe could study it’s own reporting and see how gun ownership makes residents safer. You can see the same trend happening across the country as more guns are purchased every year and crime consistently declines. Barack Obama has … [Read more...]
