Don’t Miss the Boat By Being Late to the Dock

By Deathshow @ Adobe Stock

Have you ever been close to missing the boat because you were late getting to the dock? For a lot of you, it’s not an issue. When you need to be somewhere, you’re there, often early. It’s in your DNA. Which is why being late to the dock drives you crazy. It happens.

But don’t let it happen in areas of your life where you have 100% control. I’m thinking about your retirement and pre-retirement savings.

If you had a dollar for every time a talking head said the market was going to do this or that, you wouldn’t need to work or save. Opinions are everywhere, and we are entering the holiday season where they’re offered unsolicited. Get ready for a side of Mamdani this year, along with your turkey leg.

History has a way of repeating. It may feel different this time because it does. You never lived today before. Emotions have a way of running high in the fog. When you’re in retirement, without a paycheck to fall back on, it’s a terrifying endeavor.

Remember, it’s not so much what you invest in but how you invest. In other words, your asset allocation. Make sure it’s right for you so you don’t get indigestion.

Action Line: Risk tolerance is like a food allergy, usually not discovered until after the fact. When you’re ready to talk, let’s talk. ejsmith@yoursurvivalguy.com.
