Governor Mike DeWine of Ohio has made the Buckeye State America’s 23rd constitutional carry state. On March 14, DeWine signed the Ohio Senate Bill 215, and expanded America’s permitless carry corridor to the Great Lakes region. The NRA reports:
Today, Governor Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 215 into law. This makes Ohio the 23rd constitutional carry state, and the second to join that group in 2022. Constitutional carry empowers law-abiding citizens who are already otherwise eligible to obtain a carry permit to exercise their right-to-carry without having to go through government red tape and delays.
NRA thanks Gov. DeWine for signing this critical bill that upholds the Second Amendment in Ohio, for the benefit of law-abiding citizens.
NRA once again thanks bill sponsor Senator Terry Johnson (R-14), Chairman Shane Wilkin of the House Government Oversight Committee, and all the other lawmakers who sent this bill to Gov. DeWine’s desk.
There has been a flurry of states working on constitutional carry bills this year, with Ohio and Alabama already signing them into law in 2022. Indiana and Georgia are poised to do so, and Florida and Nebraska are waiting in the wings. A bill in Colorado is unlikely but not an impossibility as well.
