Will small drones and "loitering munitions" mean the end of safety for American military forces on base? With inexpensive sensors and drone technology falling into the hands of adversaries, American forces must prepare for new threats to their protected zones. J. Noel Williams explains the rise of "lethal miniature aerial munitions" (LMAMs) at War on the Rocks. Loitering munitions, also known as lethal miniature aerial munitions (LMAMs), are a form of unmanned aircraft system that incorporate a warhead and can be thought of functionally as an unmanned kamikaze plane. Given their plane-like … [Read more...]
A Personal Security Must
My long time friend and financial and personal security expert Dave Hammer, contributes the following must have security intelligence. People buy dozens of gallon jugs of emergency water, forgetting their home already has about two months' drinking supply for two people. That's their hot water tank. Close the valve on the incoming water pipe and open any hot water faucet in the house to vent the tank. Fill up a glass from the spigot at the bottom of the tank. Bacteria can grow in the tank in a few days, particularly if the homeowner kept the tank's thermostat below 150 degrees. Just add … [Read more...]
U.S. Survival AR-7
Originally posted December 31, 2010. I own one of these and recommend them for anyone who needs a compact rifle. - Dick Young Source henryrepeating.com Since 1959, the venerable AR-7 has been the choice of U.S. Air Force pilots who need a small-caliber rifle they can count on for survival should they have to punch out over a remote area. Over the years, the AR-7's reputation for portability, ease of operation and reliability has carried over to the civilian world as well. Today, it's a favorite of bush pilots, backpackers and backcountry adventurers who, like their Air Force counterparts, … [Read more...]
Night Fright Part 2-Everything Looks Worse at Night!
Originally posted April 16, 2012. As mentioned in part 1 of Night Fright, my three decades of living in hurricane-prone islands has given me first hand experiences to share with you. And I can tell you that when the juice snaps off, the game of life changes in a blink. It takes shockingly little time for panic to set in. In Key West, the languid loads of tourists and even more extremely laid-back citizens deem disaster preparation a badge of horror. ATMs proliferate, but these things are among the first to go down, turning loads of people into instant cash orphans. In that credit/debit … [Read more...]
Survival: Night Fright —Everything Looks Worse at Night!
Originally posted April 2, 2012. You wake up with a start. It’s pitch black. You hear an odd noise and than another. We have all been in just such a situation. But this time, in your fuzzy nighttime haze, you note that neither your alarm clock light is on nor the night light in the hall nor the back porch light. How strange. Strange, maybe. Scary, more probable. Now what? What’s your next move? How fast can you react? In such a potentially dangerous setting, exactly what plan do you have in place for your family? My quick guess is that you have no plan, no plan at all. It is sad but true … [Read more...]
Announcing the Murder Capital and the Top 15 Murder Cities in America
Is your hometown on the murder list? Why is it not surprising that Chicago leads the list? I am interested in the demographics breakdown. I bet that few Windy City folk are being gunned down outside of Bloomingdales. And let’s not forget, Illinois gun laws are hostile to those law-abiding citizens wishing to defend themselves against murderers. Top 15 Murder Cities in America (reflects the number of homicides recorded by the FBI in each city during 2013). Chicago 500 New York 419 Detroit 386 Philadelphia 331 Los Angeles 299 Baltimore 219 Houston … [Read more...]
Federal Agents Conduct a Mara Salvatrucha Sweep
MS-13 was originally organized in Los Angeles by Salvadorian immigrants. Today MS-13 is a blight in at least 42 states and, as CNN notes , has grown to about 10,000 members. With all those highly trained special forces operators soon to be returning from Afghanistan, perhaps our elected politicians in Washington could assemble a few teams to round up a compelling number of these highly tattooed criminal freaks. Among those charged are 158 members and associates of MS-13, with 105 others allegedly belonging to other gangs. Authorities arrested 84 non-gang members wanted on criminal charges and … [Read more...]
Are White Vigilantes and White Cops Black America’s Problem?
Pat Buchanan doesn't think so. Nor apparently, as Pat notes, does President Obama, who is considering Ray Kelly (a great selection) for chief of homeland security. Pat writes: Though blacks are outnumbered 5-to-1 in the population by whites, they commit eight times as many crimes against whites as the reverse. By those 2007 numbers, a black male was 40 times as likely to assault a white person as the reverse. If interracial crime is the ugliest manifestation of racism, what does this tell us about where racism really resides — in America? And if the FBI stats for 2007 represent an average … [Read more...]
Brits Defenseless, Want Their Handguns Back
Cheryl Carpenter Klimek at BizPac Review details the results of a poll by The Telegraph in which readers overwhelmingly expressed their support for a repeal of the ban on handguns in the United Kingdom. Recently the Daily Telegraph put out a request to their UK readers to suggest “Private Member Bills” that they would like to see offered to Members of Parliament. A number of ideas were suggested, including a repeal of the ban on handguns and re-opening shooting clubs. The Telegraph listed the top six suggestions in an online poll asking readers to vote for the one they most wanted to see … [Read more...]
