In the summer of 2020, progressive politicians made police the bad guys and destroyed the morale at their cities' police departments with #DEFUNDPOLICE madness. Now some are realizing what a mess they've made, but it's too late. Good cops have been heading to small towns and cities where they're appreciated, leaving big cities with staffing shortages. In 2023, NYPD cops have been resigning at a record pace. It's so bad, NYC Mayor Eric Adams is being forced to roll out new robocops in the city's subways to tame what has become a crime epidemic. Luke Funk reports in The Messenger, writing: A … [Read more...]
2ND AMENDMENT ALERT: Biden to Create New Anti-Gun Office
Remember when Joe Biden was planning to create a "Ministry of Truth" type office to police Americans' speech? Thankfully, that plan was killed in its infancy by the protests of many Americans, but now Biden is up to something that could be even worse. Despite passing "the most significant gun control bill in nearly 30 years," Biden now wants to further appease America's anti-gun radicals. It's been reported that Biden will soon create a special office in the executive branch to give radical anti-Second Amendment activists their very own foothold inside the Deep State. Fox News's Chris Pandolfo … [Read more...]
New York Finds a New Way to Harass Gun Owners
You may think that Gov. Kathy Hochul would have plenty to focus on with her state reeling from crime, rampant departure of its wealthiest citizens, and an immigration crisis that even NYC Mayor Eric Adams has had to acknowledge as a major threat to the state's largest city. But instead of fixing her states major problems, she has found time to dream up new ways of harassing its gun owners after her previous methods were overturned by the Supreme Court. Hochul and the state's legislature have adopted a new method of harassment, demanding background checks for ammunition purchases. Nicolas … [Read more...]
Thieves Push Retail Crime to $100 Billion
According to the National Retail Foundation's estimates, annual "shrink,"—industry terminology for loss due to retail theft—has climbed to a staggering $100 billion. Bloomberg's John Gittelsohn reports: It took just minutes for more than 20 thieves, clad in hoods and masks, to swarm the Nordstrom store in the Westfield Topanga shopping center and make off with $300,000 of handbags and other luxury items. A security guard was blasted in the face with bear spray, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, which dubbed it a “flash rob.” It came just days after at least 30 suspects stole … [Read more...]
Sheriff Stands Up for the Constitution Against NM Governor
You read yesterday about New Mexico's radical anti-gun governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, and her ban on concealed carry and open carry of firearms in the Albuquerque area, even for those with permits. Thankfully, the Bernalillo County Sheriff, John Allen, who has jurisdiction over the area has said he will not enforce Grisham's unconstitutional order. Fox News's Timothy H.J. Nerozzi reports: Democratic New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is facing widespread pushback from state law enforcement officials following her attempt to ban concealed and open carry permits. Bernalillo County … [Read more...]
Is New Mexico Facing a Constitutional Crisis?
After Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham temporarily suspended open and concealed carry licenses in Albuquerque, critics from all parties have raised the alarm. Fox News reports: Democratic New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is coming under fire from members of her own party after temporarily suspending open and concealed carry across Albuquerque under an emergency health order. "I support gun safety laws. However, this order from the Governor of New Mexico violates the U.S. Constitution. No state in the union can suspend the federal Constitution. There is no such thing as a state public … [Read more...]
Gun Control Activists Won’t Bet on Their Policies
Second Amendment advocate John Lott offered a number of gun control activists a bet on the outcome of the policies enacted by the new anti-gun president of Brazil. Lott bet $1,000 that homicides would rise after gun controls were implemented and offered gun control activists the opportunity to bet against him. Lott is no novice on the relationship between guns and crime in Brazil. Susanne Edward of the NRA's America's First Freedom magazine reports: So, John Lott, an author, former professor, and the founder of the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), decided to challenge all of the … [Read more...]
NO GO ZONE: Feds Begin Retreat from San Francisco
Federal government employees working for the Department of Health and Human Services have been told to avoid their offices in the Nancy Pelosi Federal Building on San Francisco's Seventh Street. You see, California and San Francisco's lax legal enforcement has allowed fentanyl dealers to take over the area outside the building, making it a No-Go Zone for those who are employed inside. Megan Cassidy reports in the San Francisco Chronicle: HHS Assistant Secretary for Administration Cheryl R. Campbell issued the stay-home recommendation in an Aug. 4 memo to regional leaders. “In light of the … [Read more...]
Judge Slaps Down Anti-Gun Law in Colorado
The enforcement of a law banning 18-20-year-olds from buying guns in Colorado was temporarily blocked by Chief District Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, Philip A. Brimmer, while a legal case against it plays out. The ruling was a win for the Second Amendment rights of Coloradans. Jimmy Sengenberger explains at Colorado Politics: On Monday, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Philip A. Brimmer issued a stay halting implementation of a new state law which raises the age to purchase firearms to 21 — violating the individual right to bear arms. This was the right … [Read more...]
NRA’s Concealed Carry Battle with NY Escalates
After winning a big victory against "may issue" laws like New York's in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen, the NRA and other gun rights groups are headed back into battle after NY's Governor Kathy Hochul and the state's legislature passed new laws in direct contradiction to the spirit of the Supreme Court's ruling in Bruen. At America's 1st Freedom (an NRA magazine), Frank Miniter explains the NRA's new challenge, writing: “A year ago today, the Supreme Court ruled to strip away the rights of a governor to protect her people from concealed carry … [Read more...]
