In Ukraine, destroyed T-72s are shedding some light on a calculated design flaw Russia made on its main battle tanks. Turrets from burned out Russian T-72s in Ukraine are often seen yards away from the body of the tank. They look like they’ve popped off much like a soda bottle cap after someone drops a Mentos in. The reason appears to be a design flaw in the location chosen for ammunition storage. T-72 ammo is stored inside the crew compartment, just below the turret. Unlike the Abrams tank, where ammunition is stored in a separate compartment with blow out panels, the T-72’s ammunition is … [Read more...]

Trump’s Speech on Iran: “We do not need Middle East Oil.”
In his speech on the Iranian attack of U.S. military facilities in Iraq last night, President Trump called Soleimani the world's top terrorist, called on the other signatory nations of the JCPOA to abandon that deal and put pressure on Iran for a new one, urged other NATO members to get more involved in the Middle East, called for peace with Iran, and suggested that the United States doesn't need to be as involved because "We do not need Middle East oil." … [Read more...]
President Trump: Follow Scott Walker’s Lead
If President Trump wants to make an immediate impact on the economy then he should follow Scott Walker’s lead. "Contractors won't have to work with unions on taxpayer-funded building projects...under legislation Gov. Scott Walker signed Monday,” reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Project labor agreements establish wages and other conditions for certain projects. Walker said the legislation will protect taxpayers by ensuring local government "neutrality" when it comes to those agreements. “By forbidding state and local governments from requiring contractors to enter into agreements with … [Read more...]

Nano Crystal Breakthrough Could Revolutionize Night Vision Technology
ANU scientists have designed a nano crystal around 500 times smaller than a human hair that turns darkness into visible light and can be used to create light-weight night-vision glasses. Professor Dragomir Neshev from ANU said the new night-vision glasses could replace the cumbersome and bulky night-vision binoculars currently in use. "The nano crystals are so small they could be fitted as an ultra-thin film to normal eye glasses to enable night vision," said Professor Neshev from the Nonlinear Physics Centre within the ANU Research School of Physics and Engineering. "This tiny device could … [Read more...]
Drone Swarming Technology Takes Major Step Forward But It’s a Secret For Now
During a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington this week, DOD Secretary Ash Carter teased news on the SCO’s swarming drones operating on the sea and in the air. “In fact, this technology took a large step forward this week,” Carter says. “You’ll be hearing about it more in the months to come.” During his time as deputy secretary of defense, Carter stood up the SCO in 2012 to breath new life into existing platforms within the DOD’s inventory. Last year, the office revealed its Arsenal Plane concept, a standoff system with a large weapons carriage that … [Read more...]
Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works Developing Hypersonic Aircraft SR-72
Originally posted November 7, 2013. In 1976, U.S. Air Force SR-71 Blackbird crews flew from New York to London in less than two hours, reaching speeds exceeding Mach 3 and setting world records that have held up for nearly four decades. But those world records may not stay unbroken for long. That’s because today, at the birthplace of the Blackbird – Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works® – engineers are developing a hypersonic aircraft that will go twice the speed of the SR-71. It’s called the SR-72. Son of the Blackbird The SR-71 was developed using 20th century technology. It was envisioned … [Read more...]
A Major Vulnerability in U.S. Armored Divisions – Active Protection Systems (APSs)
A video has emerged showing an ISIS-fired Russian-made anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) obliterating a US-made M1 Abrams tank illustrating the disturbing degree to which the US's tanks have fallen behind on the modern battlefield. The US's M1 Abrams, first introduced in 1979, has undergone a number of updates to deal with evolving threats on the battlefield, but it has fallen behind in a key area — active protection. Active Protection Systems (APSs) are subsystems integrated into or installed on a combat vehicle to automatically acquire, track, and respond with hard or soft kill … [Read more...]
