Banning certain forms of gun ownership has become a centerpiece of the progressive political platform. But after radical progressive politicians fomented a crime wave beginning in the summer of 2020, many Americans, even those in left-wing constituencies, began purchasing firearms for protection. The Editorial Board of The Wall Street Journal explains: More than half of American voters say that they or someone in their household owns a gun, according to a poll by NBC News. That’s the highest level since its polls began asking in 1999. After progressives drove up firearm ownership with … [Read more...]
You Ain't Taking My Guns
“According to statistics from the NRA, around 23% of women in the U.S. own guns, when just 13% did in 2005,” writes Susanne Edward in her piece in Americas1stFreedom, “The RISE of the Woman Gun Owner.”
“The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF),” she continues, “has documented a 77% rise in female gun ownership since 2005.”
As Democrats target the suburban female demographic in 2020, they might want to check that, “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47” strategy at the door.
Millions of men and women across America are here to tell Democrats "You ain't takin' my guns." Read more about Americans fighting back against gun control below:
More Americans than Ever Own Guns
You have probably heard the phrase "voting with your wallet." When it comes to the Second Amendment, that's exactly what Americans are doing. More Americans own guns than at any time since polls began back in 1999. Today, 52% of Americans report owning a gun or living in a household that owns a gun. Alexandra Marquez reports for NBC News: More than half of American voters -- 52% -- say they or someone in their household owns a gun, per the latest NBC News national poll. That's the highest share of voters who say that they or someone in their household owns a gun in the history of the NBC … [Read more...]
Society Unbalanced by Compassion for Criminals
The editors of the Washington Examiner explain that the Soros prosecutors calling for "balance" in dealing with criminals are, in fact, unbalancing society for everyone else. The editors write: On Oct. 30, the Washington Post editorial board used the story of two Capitol Hill carjackings four weeks earlier, one involving Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), to urge major modification of Washington’s “no chase” policy that restricts police pursuits. Although a device in the Honda SUV owned by carjacking victim Stephanie Traub allowed the car’s exact location to be tracked, police merely watched the … [Read more...]
A Win for Veterans and the Second Amendment
The Senate has passed an amendment introduced by Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) to protect the Second Amendment rights of veterans. Fox News's Emma Colton reports: The Senate voted 53 to 45 Wednesday in approval of the amendment. "Veterans who sacrificed to defend our Constitution shouldn’t see their own rights rest on the judgment of unelected bureaucrats—but right now, they do," Kennedy told Fox News Digital on Wednesday. "My amendment would prevent government workers from unduly stripping veterans of their right to bear arms. Every veteran who bravely serves our country has earned VA … [Read more...]
California Gun Owners Win in Court
For 33 years, California has enforced a law banning what it calls "assault weapons." Now, that law has been struck down by US District Judge Roger Benitez as unconstitutional. Victor Nava reports at the New York Post: California’s 33-year-old law banning assault weapons is unconstitutional, violating the right to bear arms, a federal judge declared Thursday. US District Judge Roger Benitez pointed to the Second Amendment’s right to “keep and bear arms” and the Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen, which established that gun restriction … [Read more...]
Does Jeff Landry’s Win Pave the Way for Constitutional Carry in Louisiana?
Louisiana has elected Jeff Landry as its next governor. He will replace Democrat John Bel Edwards. Landry was endorsed by the NRA with an A+ rating, reserved only for politicians who have proven their commitment to the Second Amendment. In July of 2021, then-Attorney General Landry posted on his Facebook page regarding Edwards' veto of previous constitutional carry legislation: I HAVE LONG SUPPORTED - AND I HAVE ENDORSED - CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY IN LOUISIANA. I believe it is in line with our fundamental 2nd Amendment Rights. As one of many responsible firearms owners in Louisiana I believe … [Read more...]
Why Protecting Your Family Is Your Responsibility
In The American Conservative, Declan Leary discusses the sad case of Ryan Carson, who was randomly murdered in Brooklyn after enjoying a wedding with friends. Leary writes: Monday morning, very early, a 32-year-old activist was stabbed to death on a New York City sidewalk. Around 4 a.m., Ryan Carson and his girlfriend were headed home from a wedding. They were waiting at a bus stop on the corner of Malcolm X Boulevard in Brooklyn when a young man passed by them and began to knock down scooters parked on the block. He then turned his attention to Mr. Carson. The assailant screamed “What … [Read more...]
D.C. Murder Surge Bucks National Trend
Around America, the spike in murder rates that began in the summer of 2020 when radical politicians encouraged America's criminals with a campaign against its police has slowly subsided. That is, except in Washington, D.C., where murder rates are up 38% so far this year compared to the last. Scott Calvert reports in The Wall Street Journal: Surging violent crime this year has spread fear and frustration across the District of Columbia, as police here struggle to curb the bloodshed at a time when many U.S. cities are seeing double-digit declines in homicides. The district has had 216 … [Read more...]
Will Illinois Gun Owners Register Their Firearms?
Illinois has banned so-called "assault weapons" but grandfathered in those already owned by residents. Now, the window is open to register the guns, and it will be interesting to see how Illinois gun owners respond. The common refrain from many gun owners is that "registration is the first step to confiscation." They are understandably wary of telling an overtly anti-gun Illinois legislature and governor exactly where to find all the firearms in the state. Craig Wall reports for ABC7: When the state banned the sale of assault-style weapons earlier this year, it allowed those who already … [Read more...]
California Wants to Make the 2nd Amendment Unaffordable
California, led by Gov. Gavin Newsom, is doubling the tax it demands from law-abiding gun owners on sales of ammunition and guns. It appears Newsom and the California legislature have settled on a strategy of simply pricing the poor out of their Constitutional rights as enumerated in the Second Amendment. Adam Beam reports for the Associated Press: California will ban people from carrying firearms in most public places while doubling the taxes on guns and ammunition sold in the state under two new laws Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Tuesday that will test the limits of the U.S. Supreme Court’s new … [Read more...]
