In Greenwood, Indiana, this old maxim was proven true yet again when an armed citizen stopped an attempted mass shooter at the Greenwood Park Mall. When a Texas father recently realized that the SUV he was riding in with his wife and children was being carjacked, he didn't wait to take action. The father pulled out his firearm and fired shots at the carjackers through the rear window, hitting both of them. The family had just returned to their home when the carjackers struck. It's been a hard week for New York Democrats, including Governor Kathy Hochul. The Supreme Court bodyslammed the party this week by overturning the state's unconstitutional concealed carry permitting program. Of course, Hochul and other Democrats were angry at the ruling. When asked if her opposition to the court's Supreme Court ruling was based on any numbers showing that concealed carry permit holders were more violent, she replied "I don’t need to have numbers. One of the most important books written about the Second Amendment and gun policy in America is John Lott’s “More Guns, Less Crime,” from 1998. In it, Lott makes the argument for law-abiding American gun ownership. The evidence he found in the United States showed that more guns equaled less crime, and it turns out that may be true in Brazil as well. For over 100 years New Yorkers have had to prove that they had a "need" to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
