Will Florida Governor Ron DeSantis run for President in ’24? Well, he’s sitting on a $100 million+ war chest for his reelection bid this November as governor of Florida. And according to some experts he’ll be able to use any leftovers in a national race. The only other “potential” with that kind of money is former President Donald Trump. Who said politics isn’t exciting? (These mountains of money make California Gov. Gavin Newsom nipping at DeSantis publicly sound like a lap dog.) In my conversations with you, you’re asking me why Florida isn’t a Constitutional Carry state. Don’t worry. … [Read more...]
Washington’s USPS Bailout Won’t Fix Its Problems
Recently the House of Representatives passed a bill purportedly aimed at "fixing" the USPS, but in reality it's just another bailout. Chris Edwards, a Cato Institute scholar whom I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking to at many events, explains on the think tank's website that, despite bailing out the USPS's retirement health plan, if signed into law, the bill will "not fix any core problems of the troubled government corporation." He writes: The main problem facing the USPS is that first‐class mail volume has fallen 49 percent since 2001 because of the rise of email, online … [Read more...]

It said Mr. O’Rourke died Tuesday morning from complications related to lung cancer. Mr. O’Rourke, a Republican, wrote about politics, cars, the economy and other subjects, mixing in his irreverent humor and sharp wit. The Left’s Infatuation With Chaos
As a long-time reader of Andy Kessler’s this is on the money. He writes in a piece titled "'Get Smart' About Biden's Chaos," for The Wall Street Journal: No one actually likes chaos. Well, I do, having spent most of my life in the mosh pits of Wall Street and Silicon Valley, where stasis is death. For some purposes chaos should be embraced. Free markets function best when they are chaotic, not controlled. Why? Because control via regulation often leads to later disaster. Regulations for affordable housing and financing—remember Rep. Barney Frank’s desire in 2003 to “roll the dice” on … [Read more...]
Turning NYC into Australia or Worse?
You really can’t make up what’s going on in NYC. Jack Morphet and Bruce Golding of the New York Post write (abridged): Parents who planned to dine out with their kids in the Big Apple on Monday were shocked to find out that 5- to 11-year-olds can’t get into restaurants without being vaccinated against the coronavirus — and the rule is about to get even tougher. Erik St. Martin, a software engineer from Florida, 38, said he and his daughter Allie, 7, were turned away from the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square because she hasn’t gotten any shots. “We are in New York for another week and it’s … [Read more...]
PROGRESSIVES STUNNED: Youngkin Wasn’t the Only Winner Last Night
The most followed race of the evening last night was that between now Governor-Elect Glenn Youngkin and former Governor Terry McAuliffe. Youngkin shocked the world by taking out the Democratic Party heavyweight, but his wasn't the only vote that shocked progressives and Democrats last night. Perhaps the least noticed but most important vote of the evening was in Minneapolis, where citizens flatly rejected disbanding their police force in favor of an ambiguous "Public Safety Department." This is a direct message to progressives, right from the city where George Floyd died, that Americans … [Read more...]

The Afghanistan Disaster: Erik Prince Speaks the Truth
Your Survival Guy is right in line with Blackwater founder Erik Prince on this Afghanistan debacle. The answers are right in front of our face and always have been. And yet the ruling class doesn't listen and can’t see the truth, or doesn’t want to. Now look at where we are. This is not going away. Who in their right mind thinks it’s a good idea to evacuate the military before our American citizens are out and close Bagram Airfield so we can stage an evacuation from a population center in Kabul? Really? Leadership thought this was going to be easy. Intelligence warned them otherwise. And yet … [Read more...]
