Your Retirement Life: Top of the Rock

Your Survival Guy loves calling you when you’re on a trip (maybe with a little bit of jealousy, but wow, you go to cool places). This week, you were at Top of the Rock golf course at Big Cedar Lodge. I knew about the golf mecca created by Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops. But I was not familiar with the golf cart tour. Check it out. From the Top of the Rock website:

Admiring and Caring for the Natural Landscape

Located on a bluff overlooking the Ozark Mountains and Table Rock Lake, Top of the Rock preserves Missouri’s rich history and intrinsic beauty. Top of the Rock features world-class activities and attractions, including Top of the Rock Golf Course, Top of the Rock Lost Canyon Cave and Nature Trail, and the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum.

As a young man, Johnny Morris, founder of Big Cedar Lodge and Bass Pro Shops, spent time spelunking in a vast cave, hunting for mushrooms. Years later, as part of his goal to sustain and share the history of the Ozarks, he acquired the land, working with a team of craftsmen to unearth what we now cherish as Top of the Rock—using the natural landscape as a guide.

Bass Pro Shops believes that caring for the land and the water that surrounds, breeds a fierce desire to sustain it. It’s this belief that has guided Johnny Morris to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience that exists at Top of the Rock today.

Top of the Rock is proudly part of the Johnny Morris Foundation – a non-profit comprised of three world-class conservation attractions. The Johnny Morris Foundation has a profoundly positive national impact on wildlife, conservation and education. Learn more about our sister properties at wondersofwildlife.org and dogwoodcanyon.org.
