America’s Top Housing Market

Your Survival Guy wouldn’t necessarily refer to Manchester, NH, as charming, but there are reasons to love the area, as many of you know from my Super States. The Fall 2025 Wall Street Journal/Realtor.com Housing Market Ranking found that the Manchester-Nashua metro area is America’s top real estate market. The Manchester-Nashua metro area includes the towns of:

The Daily Mail describes the area, writing:

Manchester’s proximity to Boston is a draw for commuters and allows residents city access with a lower cost of living.

There’s low crime, top-rated public schools, and no sales tax or income tax there.

The job market offers thousands of jobs in health care, technology and manufacturing.

Manchester also has as vibrant arts scene, with the Currier Museum of Art and places dedicated to public art, like Dean Court, a tiny side street leading to the public library in Manchester dubbed ‘cat alley’ for its feline murals.

There are also art walk tours, which take art lovers past the various sculptures and murals throughout the city.

Manchester also has a rich culinary scene, featuring foods from diverse cultures. It’s also the birthplace of the chicken tender.

There’s the historic Millyard District, which features multiple restaurants like The Crown Tavern for burgers and Hooked Seafood Restaurant which serves blackened mahi mahi rueben.

A wide variety of eateries can also be found strolling down Elm Street, like sushi at Osaka, Italian farm-to-table and the popular Chez Vachon for breakfast crepes.

Manchester is famous for its fall foliage and apple picking.

Sunnycrest Farm has apples and pumpkins, and a farmers market.

The area is also known for its breweries, like Stark Brewing Co., Great North Aleworks, Candia Road Brewing Co., Republic Brewery and Backyard Brewery and Kitchen.

There’s also an abundance of green spaces, public parks and walking trails for outdoor enthusiasts.

For winter lovers, Manchester is adjacent to McIntyre Ski Area, which is about a 10-minute drive from downtown.
