Your Survival Guy’s Weather and Ski Outlook? Variable

Happy New Year. Your Survival Guy’s New Year’s weather and ski outlook? Variable. As always, good or bad weather has a say in how we ski, or don’t ski. As my friends out west tell me, it’s been a slow start in spots, but head north a bit, and it’s been decent.

Also, the difference between yesterday and today can be the difference between night and day. Take, for example, last Sunday when we were making some turns, and then Monday the rain came, followed by the arctic cold. Makes for interesting conditions.

Imagine skiing on the moon with the crowds you used to see at the mall during the holidays. When you’re on the chairlift, you don’t need to look down. You can hear the scratch, slide, scratch below, and you begin to wonder why you ever left the comforts of your fireside couch.

Action Line: Remember, in life and in investing, conditions can be variable, and that my three favorite letters in investing are Y-O-U. Understand your risk tolerance. It may be an intolerance. You just want to figure it out before you get on the chairlift. Hoping you get to the lodge safely is no way to live. Need a ski buddy? Email me at ejsmith@yoursurvivalguy.com
