
REGENT Defense is based in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, where it develops and manufactures Seaglider vessels for high-speed, long-range maritime missions. The company says its Seagliders can travel up to 1,400 nautical miles at speeds of up to 160 knots, combining the capabilities of uncrewed surface vessels and aerial drones. Potential defense missions include intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, communications, logistics and payload delivery.
REGENT says it is moving the technology toward real-world military operations. Its autonomous Squire Seaglider recently participated in Silent Swarm, a 13-day military experimentation event in Michigan focused on electromagnetic spectrum operations. Squire tested radar, communications, navigation, infrared and directed-energy payloads, including electronic warfare missions, with personnel from the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy. The exercise provided operational feedback on the platform’s capabilities.
Squire is designed to fly just above the water and can reach up to 70 knots, with a planned range of more than 100 nautical miles and a payload capacity of up to 50 pounds. REGENT has also conducted Marine Corps demonstrations involving rescue and logistics missions.
The larger Viceroy prototype has reached speeds of about 50 mph during hydrofoil testing. Designed to transition between floating, hydrofoiling and low-altitude, ground-effect flight, Viceroy combines maritime accessibility with aircraft-like speed.
REGENT is also developing manufacturing capacity for larger-scale production, with the broader goal of providing fast, autonomous and lower-signature maritime platforms for surveillance, communications, logistics, electronic warfare and other missions in contested waters.
