At first the question "Is your water safe from cyberattack?" seems somewhat funny. Is there a computer attached to the sink? No, not directly. But millions of Americans rely on water pumped into their homes by city and town water distribution systems that rely heavily on computers. Those computers have become a favorite target of hackers from places like Iran and China. Bloomberg's Ari Natter reports: The Biden administration is warning states to be on guard for cyberattacks against water systems, citing ongoing threats from hackers linked to the governments of Iran and China. “Disabling … [Read more...]
Families to Step up and Be Family Again
When the government sits at the head of the table it’s the end of the family as it was once known. Families learn how to rely on the government to run their households. That’s no way to live. Get government out of the dining room by balancing its budget because its appetite is insatiable. In The American Conservative, Tom McDonough explains the looming catastrophe of government debt that now hangs over the country. He writes: If we balance the Federal budget today, and keep it balanced, it will take 100 years to pay off the National Debt. Each child born in the United States gets an ID … [Read more...]
Hochul’s Exercise in “Security Theater”
Radical progressive politicians like NY Gov. Katyh Hochul have enabled criminals for years, and now that Americans are irate over the crime and homelessness in their streets, Hochul & Co. are desperately attempting to put the genie back in the bottle. But, at City Journal, Dorothy Moses Schulz explains that Hochul's efforts are "security theater." She writes: New York is abuzz with media coverage of a horrifying incident on a Brooklyn subway train. One male rider provoked another, screaming threats and invective. He began attacking the man before the two were separated by some other … [Read more...]

Bernie Sanders Wants a Day Off
Sen. Bernie Sanders is attempting to pass a law that would shorten a full work week from five days (40 hours) to four (32 hours). Jennifer Liu reports for CNBC: The act would shorten the standard workweek over four years by mandating that overtime pay kicks in after 32 hours worked in a week, down from the current 40. Those who work more than 8 hours in a day would get overtime pay at time-and-a-half, and those who work more than 12 hours in a day would be entitled to double their regular pay. Today’s 40-hour workweek has been federal law since 1940 following the passing of the Fair Labor … [Read more...]
SPENDING TSUNAMI: Revenue Is Not the Problem
At Reason, Eric Boehm explains that Joe Biden's budget makes even less sense considering the current economic environment of low unemployment and relatively decent growth. He writes: "The level of borrowing under the President's budget would be unprecedented outside a war or national emergency," notes the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a nonprofit that advocates for lower deficits. Running annual budget deficits well in excess of $1 trillion makes even less sense when you consider the current economic environment. The unemployment rate in the United States has been under 4 … [Read more...]
Haiti’s Chaos Is an Endorsement of the Second Amendment
You may have noticed in the news that Haiti is falling apart as a country at the moment, as feral gangs harass and destroy its institutions and people. While you'll often hear in the media about how guns cause chaos, you know that, in fact, it's unchecked evildoers who cause chaos. And you know that in the words of author Robert A. Heinlein, “An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.” The helplessness Haitians face without arms is an endorsement of the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms for all. James Freeman explains … [Read more...]

Why the Working Class Likes Trump
You might think billionaire New York real estate mogul Donald Trump would be an awkward champion for America's working class, but at The American Conservative, Skyler Adleta, a licensed electrician, explains Trump's appeal. He writes: I don’t really have anything in common with Donald Trump. I’m certain that he and I have not endured the same struggles, or have the same exact family values, or share every civil conviction. To be honest, I find aspects of his personality obnoxious and his frequent divisiveness tactless at times. I’ve also voted for him twice. Thinking back on why I’ve voted … [Read more...]
