You read in my piece this morning that sometimes I look back and ask, “How did we afford it?” By “it,” of course, I mean our home, and everything that goes with it. Life. Family. All of it.
It wasn’t easy, and I know it’s even harder today. Look at the divergence in housing prices and median family income over the last 63 years on my chart below.
Over the last six decades, home prices have grown at a rate faster than median family incomes, and that has made it more difficult for families to afford homes in general. Thankfully, the last few years have seen homes get more affordable compared to median family income, and hopefully that will turn into a broader trend.
Action Line: If you can, I urge you to buy a home, raise your family, and start building your wealth from the ground up. When you want to talk about your future, email me at ejsmith@yoursurvivalguy.com. And click here to subscribe to my free monthly Survive & Thrive letter.
