Trump Lowered Crime in Cities Whether They Liked It or Not

With cries of “Defund the Police” still echoing down the streets of many big cities in America, President Trump took office for his second term with a promise to deport violent criminal illegal immigrants, and that’s what he has done. Crime has come down in most of the big blue blob cities in America, whether the radical politicians there wanted it or not. Trump reminded voters of his success during a visit to San Antonio, Christopher Tremoglie reports in The Washington Examiner:

This work has included implementing initiatives to lower violent crime throughout the country — and they have worked. Under Trump’s leadership, America is unquestionably safer and more secure. As the Trump administration touted in August, the president’s work has left the country with “fewer murders, fewer victims, and safer streets.” It is, objectively, everything any citizen of this country could ever ask for from a president.

While in San Antonio, the president will discuss the miraculous turnaround that has happened under his watch, as he has arguably ushered in a golden age of safety in the country. He promised to make the nation safer, and he has delivered. Look no further than San Antonio, where, under Trump’s direction, the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement have diligently worked to remove some of the worst violent criminal illegal immigrants.

“Thanks to President Trump, San Antonio is safer,” White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis told the Washington Examiner. “The President supercharged ICE to get criminals off the streets, including child sex traffickers, drug traffickers, and other violent criminals. The President’s law and order policies delivered the largest decrease in violent crime in history.”

According to the White House, in Texas alone, crime has fallen dramatically.

  • Violent crime fell 13% last year, including a 13% drop in murder and 11% drop in rape.
  • The top 25 most populous jurisdictions in Texas all posted lower overall crime rates than the year before.
  • In the first half of 2026, Arlington homicides fell 60% from the first half of 2025.
  • America’s Safest Big Cities recently placed Plano, Laredo, and Arlington in the national Top 20 — with Plano and Laredo in the Top 10.

It isn’t just Texas, though. The entire country has seen an incredible drop in crime. In August, the FBI announced that crime had fallen 9.3% in 2025, the largest year-to-year decline since estimates began in 1936. They wrote:

The nation’s violent crime rate fell 9.3% in 2025, marking the largest year-to-year decline since the FBI began estimating crime trends in 1936, according to newly released FBI data.

The decrease was broad. The estimated number of violent crime offenses fell from 2024, with murder and nonnegligent manslaughter down 18.1%, robbery down 18.5%, rape down 7.6%, and aggravated assault down 7.2%.

The estimated murder rate fell to 4.1 per 100,000 inhabitants—the same rate recorded in 1955 and 1956 and the lowest since the FBI began keeping national estimates.

Action Line: Whether the radical politicians of the big blue blob cities wanted it or not, no doubt the residents of those cities are happy to have safer streets. Click here to subscribe to my free monthly Survive & Thrive letter.
