Stimulus Checks for Guns

April 17, 2020 By E.J. Smith - Your Survival Guy

One client tells me his gun shop, once again, is seeing record sales. This time from the stimulus checks.

The $1200 check is about the perfect amount for a new handgun or rifle and some ammo.

At least some Americans are putting it to good use.

Sales were already soaring as Americans, nervous about civil unrest caused by the coronavirus, purchased new firearms in droves. Many of these Americans were first-time buyers of guns. The Elko Daily Free Press reports:

“Sales are definitely up,” said Bob Buckley, who owns Arms R Us in Spring Creek. “Delivery is probably the biggest problem at this point. We can order all kinds of things but getting it here is a different story.”

Buckley said gun and ammunition warehouses in the country are backed up because Northern Nevada is not the only place having a run on their products.

“There are a lot of first-time buyers,” Buckley said. “Jokingly, I like to say that everybody is buying guns to protect the toilet paper.”

Buckley said he is selling a lot of personal defense firearms and ammunition because people are worried about home invasions and theft.

“They want to take care of themselves and their families,” he said.

Buckley said background checks usually take 15 minutes but now they might take as long as one or two days.

And Charlotte’s WBTV explained:

Last week, Larry Hyatt, the owner of Hyatt Guns, noticed business was doing unusually well both online and in the Wilkinson Boulevard store. First-time buyers — including senior citizens and women — were outnumbering the employees, he said.

“Friday, it hit,” Hyatt said. “That’s when evidently whatever news came out and sparked this.”

Last week, Charlotte saw a flurry of announcements and closures over the novel coronavirus pandemic. Last Tuesday, N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper declared a state of an emergency before President Donald Trump declared one for the nation last Friday.

While the numbers haven’t been formally calculated, Hyatt said that Saturday’s sales are turning out to look like the best day for the store’s over 60-year history, followed by the sales on Monday. Hyatt Guns is closed on Sunday.

Hyatt estimated that sales have been ten times greater than what is typically expected in March.

With stimulus checks just beginning to flow, there are probably many Americans who are considering spending their newfound wealth on a new firearm.

If you are one of those first-time gun buyers, I urge you to get the proper training for your firearm. I train at Sig Sauer Academy in Epping, New Hampshire. If you’re in the northeast, I recommend you give them a call. There’s also the popular Thunder Ranch in Lakeview, Oregon, and many others.

VIDEO: Florida Gun Owner Blasts Three Home Invaders Back Out the Door

Americans have reason to worry during this coronavirus shutdown. The NYPD has noted a 75% increase in commercial burglaries after the lockdown went into effect. Americans want the opportunity to protect themselves. A gun owner in Neptune Beach, Florida sent three intruders fleeing for their lives after they broke in while he was home.

The Daily Mail reports:

Footage from a Ring spotlight camera showed the frightening altercation that happened at Park Place Apartments at 5:51pm on Tuesday.

Three armed suspects in black hoodies were seen walking from the complex’s sidewalk to the victim’s front door.

After checking that the coast is clear, one man began to throw his body against the front door until it flew open from the force.

The three men rushed into the home, but frantically came running out seconds later after the homeowner fired at least five gunshots.

The men desperately fled the scene, including one suspect who jumped over the balcony onto the ground.

News Jax 4 reports that surveillance video from a nearby parking lot showed the suspects leaving in a red Kia four-door sedan, possibly with the temporary Florida license tag #CQW1410.

Authorities initially released photos of the cars in their search for the suspects, but said Wednesday they’ve been recovered and identified.

Following the incident, the Neptune Police Department confirmed one suspect was shot in the chest and went to a local hospital for treatment.

Thanks to Florida’s Castle Doctrine law, this homeowner probably won’t be sued by the criminals who tried to rob him. Florida is one of America’s 33 states that protect citizens’ rights to protect themselves with a Castle Doctrine law.
