The city of Chicago has become synonymous with crime, especially murder. Each week brings a new wave of deaths in the Windy City, where Mayor Lori Lightfoot has seemingly lost control. Now the city’s Police Superintendent, David Brown, is pleading with courts to stop allowing violent criminals back on the streets so soon. According to Brown, 90 murder suspects have been released back on to the streets just this year. Ronny Reyes reports for the Daily Mail:
Chicago’s top officer once again took aim at the city’s court system by saying judges released violent offenders into the street amid a wave of gun violence in the city during a press conference on Monday.
Police Superintendent David Brown said the city could not risk having violent criminals in the streets after last week’s mayhem, which left at least 12 people dead and 70 injured across the Windy City.
‘What we can do different is challenge the courts to render Chicago safe,’ Brown said in the televised conference. ‘Holding offenders in jail longer, not releasing murderers back into our community. That’s what we can do different.’
Brown said he was referring to the fact that 90 people who have been charged with murder have been released on electronic monitoring by the city’s courts.
Action Line: Cops shouldn’t need to ask the judges to keep murder suspects in jail. You are walking the streets with every criminal a judge lets out early. You need to protect yourself. First, get your gun and your training, then, look for a better America today.
