How to Bring “1+1=3” into Your Life and More

Happy Friday

We love our animals, that’s for sure. In my conversations with you and in your emails, you tell me as much. Thank you for your kind words on the passing of our dog Louis. Here’s a touching note from a client:

4 Legged Friends

Good Morning E.J.

Yesterday evening I had time and read about ‘Louis’. The story really touched me as I am one of those who loves and is fascinated by dogs. There is something about a good intelligent dog that no other animal, and I hate to use the word animal, has.  Sure, there are other animals that have pretty good intelligence, but dogs can be ‘talked to’!

I have had several that were my best friends. About 21 years ago I lost one of the best and it devastated me to the point where I said I would never get another ‘cause it just hurt too darn much. . .I even made a wood casket for her.

My son talked me into getting another which I did and have no regrets, but I know the day will come when I will cry again. He is a Silver Lab and will be 11 in July, so the time is getting short. He loves to hunt.

If you pick up a gun, he goes ballistic to the point where he even nibbles on the gun stock. He is here at the office every day and has been a boon to morale.  I think if you hire someone for a job and they love dogs you have a good chance of getting a really good person.

I even go so far as to think that just maybe we will see them again in the next world we are destined for. So, what I am getting at is consider giving a lot of thought to filling that void in the Smiths’ lives.

Best wishes,

Our QM2 Voyage

Your Survival Guy will embark on the QM2 Sunday from Brooklyn, NY and arrive in South Hampton, England a week later. As I write to you this morning, I wish I could say I’m packed. I’m not. I guess that’s what Saturday, the day before, is for. I’m a big fan of organizational gurus like Marie Kondo.

All I can say is I’m still learning. I hope to have plenty to share with you on our transatlantic crossing and time abroad. The best news is, king dollar has held up nicely to the pound and euro over the last five years. Use your purchasing power and go see the world.

1+1=3

When you add value to your life, it can be more than simple arithmetic. It’s what I call 1+1=3 or synergy, where the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. Recently, I helped a client with the purchase of a neighboring piece of land to his property along the Snake River in Idaho. A classic case of synergy. He writes:

E.J.,

[T]hank you for all that you did to facilitate my purchase of the property next to us here in Idaho. It was handled professionally and efficiently. We were able to close that same day. I’ll send you pictures of the property. Thanks again, E.J. All the best,

This is looking from the top of the property eastwardly toward the Salmon River. The river is between the end of our property and the mountain in the distance. It has been used to grow hay in the past.

Synergy in Your Life

How can you make your life synergistic or 1+1=3? Well, first, you can add by subtraction. In other words, pay off your mortgage and get the bank off your back. Your Survival Guy wants you to be an owner.

But what about enhancing your property or home value? How’s it working out trying to find anyone to do the work you want done? I hear you. Not good. Unless you’re doing major work, they don’t have time. One way to be creative in your neck of the woods is to find a handful of others you know who need work done. Now, rather than your $5k job, the builder is looking at $25k or perhaps more from your group.

Rich Man, Poor Man

In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing some thoughts on the Rich Man, Poor Man and how it relates to the Rich Advisor, Poor Advisor. Remember, how you act in life is directly related. You don’t have to be as rich as Croesus to live and act like a Rich Man. It’s not just about money, although yes, money can buy you happiness. It’s more of a mindset. A way of life. Stay tuned.

Action Line: Be careful out there but do get out and see the world. Life comes at you in unexpected ways. It’s why Your Survival Guy looks both ways, crossing one-way streets. Stick with me. When you’re ready to talk, let’s talk. In the meantime, click here to subscribe to my free monthly Survive & Thrive letter.
