Missing Out on Where the Big Dogs Play

Are you missing out on where the big dogs play? I’m talking about bonds. They look good right now.

You know Your Survival Guy doesn’t like predictions, which is why I believe bonds are a good place to hide some substantial money over the next number of years.

When you consider the value proposition of Treasurys and risk-free T-bills compared to far riskier assets like stocks, it begs the question: Why wouldn’t you consider putting your age in bonds?

Boring you say?

Be a contrarian.

When everyone’s looking over their shoulder at past performance, seeing stocks beating bonds, it might not be a bad idea to question the road we’ve been on and if it will continue as such. The mood was pretty good right up to the big market crashes this century. So far, there have been three.

“Oh, relax Survival Guy, you’re too careful. Stocks always come back,” some are thinking.

So far, that’s true, but they don’t always come back on your schedule, and life has a funny way of surprising us, doesn’t it?

Remember, we’re coming out of a generational shift in interest rates. Rates you can finally sink your teeth into. Do not be complacent. Understand that you work to make money, and you invest to keep it.

Easy to understand. Hard to do.

Action line: Not all fixed income is created equally, and it is often overlooked by many except those in the know. Bonds? Lending money? This is where the big dogs play. Are you ready to get serious?
