Your Survival Guy received this wonderful email from a long-time reader of Richard C. Young’s Intelligence Report explaining how she never met Richard C. Young but owes him a huge thank you! She writes:
My initial exposure to him was an issue of the Richard C Young’s Intelligence Report that I picked up at a dentist’s office circa 1988. It grabbed my attention, I actually requested to keep the issue, and the rest is history!
I had replaced my accounting career with motherhood, and my former firm required that I transfer my retirement savings out. The Intelligence Report was so helpful to me and made so much sense. At that time, issues suggested portfolios for new investors. I divided my whopping $15,000 between Rushmore American Gas, Vanguard Wellesley Income, Vanguard Wellington, FAM Value, the Janus Fund and an American Century suggestion, using the minimums required. I shared a subscription with my mom, who also retains many of her original investments at 92! You see, some families talk football around the table; my family discussed investments.
Of course, I continued to squirrel away as much as possible, fully funded Roth IRAs when they became available, entered the finance world and earned my CFP, grew my kids, got divorced, worked for my future, found my soulmate, retired just shy of 61, and at 68 have yet to withdraw anything from savings. That $12,500 is now nearly 1.5 million!!! Being a millionaire is wonderful, and I’m sure that multi-millionaire is just a couple of years away for me. I still have friends thanking me for suggesting Intelligence Report investments for their children’s education funds!
She continued to express her gratitude for his wisdom all those years ago. “Thank you, Richard C Young! Be well and enjoy your life. All the best to you and your family as well.”
