If you can take away one thing from the chaos in the market, it is that investors got too comfortable. Stocks have been overpriced for a while, and if it wasn’t tariffs, it could have been any number of events that triggered a pullback. And don’t forget that stocks may come back, but they may not be on your schedule. Investing is not a game for the faint of heart, especially when investors buy certain stocks that are a “sure thing.” Sure.
In my conversations with you, we talk about the time we spent getting your portfolio positioned for times like these. Lately, I’ve been busy talking with investors like you. But that’s my job—to talk with investors all day, every day. It’s not a hobby. It’s not necessarily fun, especially when I tell an investor I don’t like what they’re doing. Hey, tough love hurts. Believe me, there are plenty who choose to go it alone or to go with the “yes” guy. That’s not me.
