You know Your Survival Guy wants you to consider using some of your cash to take that trip you’ve always dreamed about. You’ve worked hard and saved ’til it hurt. Maybe it’s time to take your family to Paris, or Lake Tahoe, or Fiji, or wherever it is you think is best.
Despite rising costs, Americans are still traveling, though just a hair less than they did for the last couple of years. You can see on my chart below the number of passengers going through TSA checkpoints for the last six years. The big Covid dip in 2020 is apparent, and the slow numbers in 2021 and 2022 are also obvious.
But in 2023 travel numbers rebounded, and since then it’s been off to the races, with higher numbers each year. This year, 2026, began strongly, with TSA checkpoint numbers higher than 2025, but since mid-April, those numbers have begun to decline a bit, though still not more than a hair below those for 2024 and 2025. America is still moving.
