Stanford professor Dr. Jay Bhattacharya slammed the Democratic Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, for his terrible handling of the state’s public education system, which kept kids out of school for more than a year. Hope Sloop reports for The Daily Mail:

A professor of medicine at Stanford University has slammed California Governor Gavin Newsom for his COVID-19 policies – which kept his kids out of school for more than a year.

Dr. Jay Bhattacharya took to Twitter Sunday to criticize the Democrat lawmaker – whose state saw some of the strictest lockdowns in the country.

‘Gov. @GavinNewsom kept my kids out of their public schools for nearly a year and a half with no good scientific or epidemiological justification. His record on education is the worst in the country,’ the professor tweeted.

Bhattacharya was responding to a tweet from the Governor’s wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, who shared photos of herself and her husband visiting two public schools.

She wrote in the tweet: ‘By focusing on the whole child, these schools build on CA’s commitment to giving ALL children the best start in life.’

Her words received heavy backlash from Dr. Bhattacharya, who is the director of Stanford’s Center for Demography and Economics of Health and Aging.

Others on Twitter agreed with him, calling out the liberal politician and his wife for what they say is hypocrisy.

‘He transformed education into an abject catastrophe. Except for his own kids who went to in person private school in 2020,’ responded one person.

Action Line: The most important part of education for kids is that they’re actually being educated. When Democrat governors across the country shut down schools, they failed the children of their states and voters. Now many Democrats think Newsom would be a great replacement for Biden in the White House. Yikes.
