Credit Card Companies Eroding Gun Owners’ Rights

Until now, gun shops have been classified in the miscellaneous retail or sporting goods portions of the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) merchant codes. But, heeding the call of radical progressive Democratic politicians like Kathy Hochul, the ISO has created a segregated code for gun shops. You may be wondering why law-abiding Americans should have any of their purchases red-flagged in such a way. Your Survival Guy certainly is. The only answer appears to be, in the NRA’s words, an erosion of “the rights of law-abiding Americans one transaction at a time.” Kevin Haggerty reports for BPR on the NRA’s response to this new move by the ISO, writing:

On Saturday, Visa announced that they would be joining Mastercard and American Express in following the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) new system for coding gun sales, as reported by the Associated Press.

“Following ISO’s decision to establish a new merchant category code, Visa will proceed with next steps, while ensuring we protect all legal commerce on the Visa network in accordance with our long-standing rules,” the company explained in a statement.

The ISO, a group of non-governmental bodies, proudly details on their website that they align with the United Nations’ 2030 Global Agenda tied firmly to the advancement of environmental, social and governance (ESG) scoring that, in part, restricts an individual’s participation in the market based on their compliance to progressive policies.

As previously reported, American Express embraced the tenets of ESG and promotes their “three core pillars: Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I), Building Financial Confidence, and Advancing Climate Solutions with new long-term goals and initiatives.”

Reacting to the decision by the three major payment processors, National Rifle Association (NRA) spokesman Lars Dalseide said, “The (industry’s) decision to create a firearm specific code is nothing more than a capitulation to anti-gun politicians and activists bent on eroding the rights of law-abiding Americans one transaction at a time.”
