Three states are feeling the full backlash from retirees and other residents who have had enough with high taxation and over regulation. The 2016 National Movers Study, by United Van Lines found that residents have been rapidly fleeing the big government states of New York, New Jersey and Illinois. In New York, exits outnumbered entrants by nearly 2 to 1. Illinois is having an especially hard time holding on to its higher income earners, making its attempts at confiscatory taxation even harder as its tax base flees for better treatment elsewhere.
