Congratulations, Canada and Connor McDavid, for Winning 4 Nations in OT

Congratulations to Canada in their 4 Nations OT win over the United States. Connor McDavid’s snipe put it away and the celebration was as emotional as a Stanley Cup win. This event had all the pieces of an Olympic game and then some.

When Your Survival Guy was in third grade and the United States won the gold medal in Lake Placid, goalie and local hero Jim Craig visited my school. I played hockey with his nephews. It was a special time. I was thinking about that while watching these games.

When Your Survival Guy is routing for the Tkachuk brothers, especially Matthew who has personally served up major heartbreak to my Boston Bruins, that’s saying something. And when Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand, playing for Canada was surging down the wing and had a scoring chance I was hoping he wouldn’t.

That’s the beauty of sports. You can get into the rivalry and what it means to the players and country. Great job by the NHL replacing the All-Star Game with this great event.
