After two years of mandates and lockdowns, forced on them by Democratic politicians and bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.’s “health industrial complex,” Americans are finally wresting back control of their lives. But the pontiff of COVID craziness, Dr. Anthony Fauci, just can’t let it go. In an interview with CNN on Thursday, March 17, Fauci said “If in fact we do see a turnaround and a resurgence, we have to be able to pivot and go back to any degree of mitigation that is commensurate with what the situation is.” The Daily Mail reports:
‘We can’t just say, ‘We’re done. We’re going to move on.’ We’ve got to be able to be flexible because we’re dealing with a dynamic situation.’
Fauci added that the variant, which has seen a spike in the UK, could cause a surge in the U.S. as it appears to be as infectious as Omicron, but less fatal.
‘The overall mortality is actually down,’ Fauci said. ‘It’s a very interesting situation where the cases are going up, but it does not, at this point in time, appear to be any degree of severity.’
‘We generally follow what goes on the UK by about two to three weeks,’ he added. ‘I would not be surprised in the next few weeks, given the fact that we’ve begun to open up, and we have an increase in the BA.2 variant, that we’ll be seeing an increase in cases.’
The warning came as COVID restrictions have been lifted all across the country amid a sharp drop in daily cases after the Omicron surge earlier this year.
What Fauci means, of course, is that he’s willing to reinstate the policies that drove bankruptcies, suicides, drug use, and depression to historic proportions if that means he retains control. Thankfully, Sen. Rand Paul has introduced a bill to eliminate Fauci’s position in the government. Paul’s office described his effort fire Fauci:
Today, U.S. Senator and physician Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced an amendment to eliminate Dr. Anthony Fauci’s position as the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and replace it with three separate national research institutes.
“We’ve learned a lot over the past two years, but one lesson in particular is that no one person should be deemed “dictator-in-chief.” No one person should have unilateral authority to make decisions for millions of Americans,” said Dr. Paul. “To ensure that ineffective, unscientific lockdowns and mandates are never foisted on the American people ever again, I’ve introduced this amendment to eliminate Dr. Anthony Fauci’s position as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and divide his power into three separate new institutes. This will create accountability and oversight into a taxpayer funded position that has largely abused its power, and has been responsible for many failures and misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Background:
As recently as 2012, Congress passed a law that eliminated the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) and reassigned some of its programs to a new National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), and assigned other NCRR functions to other institutes within NIH.
Dr. Paul’s amendment would keep with this precedent of reorganization, and would immediately eliminate Dr. Fauci’s position and replace it with three new directors of the following new institutes:
- National Institute of Allergic Diseases
- National Institute of Infectious Diseases
- National Institute of Immunologic Diseases
Each of these three institutes will be led by a director who is appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate for a 5-year term.
This amendment also aligns with NIAID’s existing mission statement, which begins by saying: “NIAID conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.”
Of course, Paul and Fauci have clashed numerous times in Senate hearings over masking and vaccines. Ultimately, the American people have forced most of the country’s governors and politicians to capitulate on senseless COVID rules. Americans can thank the few politicians like Rand Paul who stood up for them when others were too afraid to do so.
Action Line: If your governor was one who clung to mask mandates (or in some cases is still clinging to them), it’s time for you to look for a better America. It’s time to achieve your dreams of moving to a free state, a Super State. It’s time to defeat the inertia holding you back, and bring your family somewhere your money and freedom are appreciated.
