President Trump has been a long-time defender of the Second Amendment. In 2017, he became the first president since Ronald Reagan to address the National Rifle Association’s annual Leadership Forum. Now, his Department of Justice is working hard to protect the rights of American citizens from state and local governments that seek to infringe on their constitutionally protected civil right to bear arms. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon has announced an effort at the DOJ to do just that. Watch her announcement below:
🚨Great news — I’m excited to announce the new 2A section of @CivilRights!
The right of law-abiding American 🇺🇸 citizens to keep, bear, & use commonly known firearms is fundamental, and this @JusticeDept has a lot of 2A work planned, in addition to what we’ve already done! pic.twitter.com/L4Acg72k7A
