Fleeing the Blue Blobs for a Better America

High taxes, heavy regulation, and politicians hell-bent on making it even worse. What’s not to love about America’s big blue blob states?

I’m kidding, of course. Americans are rapidly fleeing states that treat their dollars poorly and their businesses like an extension of their radical agenda. No surprises there. The Wall Street Journal reports:

Slowing growth presents a particular political problem for progressive states losing people en masse to other states, such as California (-229,077 net domestic out-migration last year), New York (-137,586), Illinois (-40,017), New Jersey (-37,428) and Massachusetts (-33,340).

If this trend holds, Democratic-run states will likely lose at least a half dozen Congressional seats after the post-2030 Census reapportionment, as well as the federal funds tied to population. Anti-growth policies have consequences.

The American Redistricting Project projects that the Census reapportionment will give a number of red states new electoral votes, including:

  • Texas +4
  • Florida +2
  • Georgia +1
  • North Carolina +1
  • Utah +1
  • Idaho +1
  • Arizona +1

Is it any wonder that many of these states are among Your Survival Guy’s Top 10 Super States? Americans are moving to where their money and their families are treated best.
