What does suffering under an oppressive regime sound like? In the past, that may have been a difficult question to answer directly, but not anymore. Video posted to Twitter by author and radio host, Patrick Madrid, of people screaming out their windows in despair after a week of being locked down in Shanghai is the sound of pure oppression.
The translation she gave me: “It’s Shanghai, everyone is screaming, started with a couple now everyone is screaming, after a week of lockdown, something is going to happen, no one knows when this is going to end.”
He says they can’t even step outside their apartments.

Action Line: Americans in the big blue cities have some idea of what the residents of Shanghai are going through. They watched in 2020 and 2021 as draconian lockdowns put their businesses into bankruptcy and kept them away from family members and loved ones. Now the world knows that such lockdowns didn’t help, and in fact may have hurt. If you live in a state or city where your politicians were willing to sacrifice your livelihood or your children’s mental health simply for their unscientific, politically motivated lockdown strategies, it’s time to look for a better America today.
