Private jet flights to and from South Florida have increased to record levels. This is a trend Your Survival Guy is following as the kids’ inheritance is spent on keeping taxes low and the champagne cold. Private Jet Card Comparisons reports:
Data from Tuvoli, a payment platform for private jet charter brokers and operators, shows South Florida private jet flights continue at a record clip, even as we head into the summer.
So far in June, flights at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport are running 91.4% ahead of 2019 levels. As an example, during the first 23 days of June two years ago, the number of private jet arrivals and departures reached the century mark nine times. In 2021, the lowest daily total was 134 private jet flights, with seven days seeing over 200 flights. In 2019, the peak was June 9, with 126 flights.
What’s more, there doesn’t seem to be a let-up. During the latest seven-day period, flights at OPF were 83.5% ahead of 2019. Year-to-date Opa Locka flights are 53.4% ahead of 2019 levels with 36,020 movements, more than 200 per day.
Palm Beach and Naples private jet flights spike
At Palm Beach International Airport, it’s a similar story. Private jet flights so far in 2021 are 42.1% ahead of 2019 with 52,408 flights, more than twice the number of airline flights. In June, private jet flights are spiking, up 66.8% compared to pre-pandemic totals. Over the past week, private jet movements were up 55.5%.
On the West Coast, flights at Naples Municipal Airport are running 67.4% ahead of 2019 levels in June and 38.4% up year-to-day compared to pre-Covid levels. So far this year, Naples has seen 35,702 private jet flights compared to 25,792 in 2019.
Private jet flights into and out of Ft. Lauderdale International and Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport are also taking off in record numbers. At FLL private jet flights are up 43.5% in June and 7.7% for the year. Including the airlines, flights are down 6.7% for the month compared to 2019 and 22.4% for the year. At FXE, which exclusively serves general aviation, private jet flights are up 33.8% in June compared to 2019 and 13.2% for the year.
Action Line: Many of those flying south to Florida are making the state their new home, as their blue state governors go wild, taxing and regulating their lives. If you’re looking to avoid being smothered by your state government in retirement, look to become a Liberty Retiree.
